Democratic Women to Hold Yard Sale

This Friday’s Democratic Women’s Yard Sale is your opportunity to help your Democratic Party underwrite its aggressive agenda of promoting “Building a Stronger Middle Class”. All or a portion of the proceeds are going to support the Democrat Resource Center and its vital work in the region.

 Please be sure to donate items to the sale by dropping them off at Janet Hyder’s home located at 324 West Doe Avenue, Elizabethon. To get there turn off West Elk Avenue onto Holly Lane and go up the hill. Turn left onto West Doe Avenue, 324 will be on the right.

Remember, this Friday, July 19th is the sale date so please plan delivery of your donated items accordingly. Thanks


Mark Your Calendar- Annual Picnic, July 20th

Carter County Democratic Women are sponsoring the annual picnic on Saturday, July 20th at the pavillion near the Elk Avenue Bridge, across from Tetrick on Riverside Drive. Time will be from 11:30 to 1:30.  The Carter County Democratic Party will be providing fried chicken and drinks. You are asked to bring cold salads (cole slaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, etc.) or a dish such as your favorite baked beans, squash casserole, green beans or something complementary to a picnic lunch. We do need a few volunteers to bring a dessert.

Please join fellow Democrats to simply enjoy each other’s company and exchange ideas and dreams for “BUILDING A STRONGER MIDDLE CLASS.” We will be sharing with you plans for making gains in the 2014 elections and issue that Democrats will be focused on addressing. You may be surprised to see what has been developing. See you there.

Democratic Women to Hold Yard Sale Fundraiser

Mark your calendars. The Carter County Democratic Women’s organization will be holding a yard sale on Friday, July 19th. The yard sale will be at the home of Janet Hyder, 324 West Doe Ave. in Elizabethon. Please start now identifying “stuff” you no longer have a use for that would make good yard sale items. During the week of July 15-18th please bring them to Janet’s house for tagging and display. If you have a large item requiring a truck, Mike Lane has graciously volunteered to assist and will come to your location for pick up.

Please support this good cause. Carter County Democratic Women are planning to further assist the Democratic Resource Center in our efforts to help it achieve long term sustainability.

The Carter County Democratic Party is excited to announce the official ribbon cutting for its 2012 election campaign office. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday September 8th. Located at 441 East Elk Avenue in Elizabethton, this year’s theme is simply “Middle Class Headquarters”.
If you saw Bill Clinton’s memorable and historic speech last night at the Democratic National Convention, you now know why all of us are to be proud to be Democrats. We are energized, we are ready to take the fight to the streets by getting voters registered and to the polls, and we are not willing to return to the failed policies of the past. Join us and get involved in this important undertaking; for your sake and your children and grandchildren’s sake.
Official hours for the ribbon cutting are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. but the office will stay open the rest of the day as we kick off the official start of the local campaign. Refreshments will be served and music will be graciously provided by the Matthews/Boyd duo. All Democrats, Independents and dissaffected Republicans who see the need to preserve the middle class are invited to join us.

Carter Dems Promote “The Last Mountaintop” Film

Mike Lane, Chair for the Democratic Party of Carter County, has issues an invitation for all Carter County Democrats and interested citizens to attend a FREE showing of the acclaimed documentary “The Lat Mountaintop”. This film in chock full of facts and evidence of the devastating effects of mountaintop mining and offers alternatives for jobs and industry (such tourism) that could be used to supplant mountaintop mining.

Admission is FREE. The showing will begin at 7 p.m. on January 2nd, at the Bonnie Kate Theater in Downtown Elizabethton. Please mark your calendar and bring the family.

Democratic Women to Meet on August 23rd

Carter County Democratic Women will meet at the Lone Star Restaurant, 19E, Elizabethton, Tuesday, August 23.  Those wishing to eat will meet at 5:15 p.m. . The business meeting will begin at 6:00.  The topic of discussion will be the “Muster on the Mount.” Planning and volunteers are needed.  This year “Muster on the Mount” will featured several dynamic speakers and will focus on forging bonds with teachers and unions. T.N.D.P. Official to Attend Annual Picnic

Mike Lane, Carter County Democratic Party Chairman, has announced Brandon Puttbrese, Communications Director for the Tennessee Democratic Party will be in attendance at our Annual Picnic. The picnic will begin at 11 a.m. this Saturday, July 23rd at the picnic pavilion near the Covered Bridge in downtown Elizabethton. This will be a great opportunity to learn about the impressive work the state level official are doing to prepare for the 2012 election. Please plan to attend.
