Carter County Democrats Proactive Ahead of 2012 Elections

The Carter County Democratic Party is going proactive ahead of the 2012 elections. With an  annual membership meeting coming up in the new two months, party officials are working hard to organize and mobilize party loyalists to fulfill our stated mission. That mission  “to promote the ideals and principles of the Democratic Party and to aid in the election of Democrats and Democratic nominees for public office” will serve as the platform on which to build a reinvigorated Carter County Democratic Party.

Acknowledging that Carter County has a tradition of voting Republican, party officers are confident that the current assault of the working and middle class will produce disillusionment that results in alliances of voting interests that can serve to defeat Republicans and tip the scales of fairness back in the direction of the average, hard working citizen. Plans are to educate and inform voters on votes cast by current incumbents with particular emphasis on votes that take away rights and benefits that provide the basic safety net that Americans agree represent the minimum a great nation can and should provide its citizens. We will not let Republicans forget when they vote against the interests of the working and middle class.

We are aware that recent growth in county population as a result of in-migration consists of many new residents whom are from areas of the country where the Democratic Party is in the majority. We hope to identify and engage these newcomers in the party as active, supportive and participating members. They can be a valuable asset and refreshing breath of new ideas.

We look for many new and exciting things to happen in the coming months. We hope you share that excitement and will stay or get involved in this worthwhile effort to build a stronger Democratic base in Carter County.
